Houg is a Trip-Hop/Chillwave artist-producer from Singapore. Only seriously starting to make music in 2016, Houg has been through quite a journey of expression and reflection while navigating the personal realities of his life.
Distinct in Houg’s music is a combination of Chillwave, Neo-Psychedelia, TripHop and Experimental elements. It’s inevitable - inspired and influenced by heroes Gorillaz, Jamiroquai, Tame Impala, Hot Chip and Portishead.
In a short 3 years, Houg has gone from bedroom producer to playing his music for live audiences as part of major lineups in Singapore, as well as across Melbourne, Australia.
Fresh off being mentored and produced by Kevin Foo (Foundation Music, Umami Records) at Singapore’s SHINE Talent Development Programme, as well as being mentored by the multi-hyphenated local artist, Inch Chua, under the 2018 Noise mentorship Programme, Houg looks forward to a solid 2019 with the release of his first EP and performances that dig deeper and rise above, guided by his creative inquisition.
“…Quixotic and romantic. But there’s an uncanny mingling of poesy, considered craft and openhearted longing that makes it a keeper. Nothing here is onedimensional.” - Indran Paramasivam, Bandwagon Asia 2018
